Scott had suggested to me that I should do a post about the Hellfire Club. The Hellfire Club is a was the popular name for a number of supposed exclusive clubs for high society rakes established all over Britain and Ireland in the 18th century. The club name influenced me in coming up with the band name The Hellfire Villainy. I wanted something that had an actual conspiracy related to it. The Hellfire Villainy really seemed to fit the bill.

November 20, 2009 - Reaper Digital Audio Workstation
I felt like I needed to let you all know about a fantastic DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) I’ve been working with that I think is just fantastic. This is the DAW that I’ve been using for pretty much all of my current recordings. The Hellfire Villainy’s “A Demonstration in Disturbing the Peace” was recorded using Cockos’ Reaper DAW. Reaper offers a no-compromises 64-bit audio engine and 64-bit end-to-end signal path offer the maximum in resolution and headroom. Unlimited track counts, total routing freedom, draggable sends, beat-based audio templates, sidechain support for any plugin – REAPER gives you both power and flexibility.
REAPER doesn’t discriminate against MIDI. You can freely mix audio and MIDI routing, even within a single track. REAPER’s parameter modulation allows you to creatively sidechain midi and audio: drive your synth’s cutoff filter with an audio signal, or create midi triggers with an audio gate. You can even script your own JS MIDI processing plug-ins and customized game controller-to-MIDI support!
There’s only one version of REAPER. One complete, solid, full-featured digital audio workstation. Your one-user, full-use license includes up to two major version numbers worth of REAPER’s famous frequent upgrades.
A REAPER 1.0 license would have included over 250 upgrades! Purchasing a license now includes upgrades through REAPER 4.99.
The evaluation version of REAPER is complete and uncrippled. There are no artificial interruptions or restrictions, and you can save and load projects normally. Cockos believes in giving you a fair chance to make sure that REAPER works correctly with your hardware and suits your workflow.
The REAPER installer simply copies REAPER and its support files to disk. It does not install anything except itself. If after 30 days (or so they suggest) you decide that REAPER is not for you, simply delete it. If you decide that REAPER is for you, you must purchase a license.
Currently there are two licenses, depending on how you use it:
$225: full commercial license.
$60: discounted license.
You may use the discounted license if any of the following is true:
You are an individual, using REAPER only for personal use.
You are an individual or business, using REAPER for commercial use, and the yearly gross revenue does not exceed USD $20,000.
You are an educational or non-profit organization.
I think Cockos is a great company that makes a great product that works better in a 64-bit platform (Mac or PC) better than any other DAW out there, and I’ve tried them all.
